School Holiday Progam

Children aged 7-14

July 8th, 9th & 10th

Create to Connect holiday programs offer a calm, creative space for primary school aged children to spend their school holidays making art, exploring materials, and connecting with others in a small, supportive group.

These sessions are process-based and low-pressure, designed for kids who love creating and enjoy a quieter, more thoughtful environment.

Who this program is great for

This program is especially suited to children who:

  • Love art and making things

  • Want to creatively explore their special interests

  • Prefer smaller group settings

  • Enjoy working at their own pace

  • Don’t always thrive in loud or competitive holiday programs

What we’ll do

Each day of the program includes at least three guided art-making sessions, giving kids the chance to explore different materials, ideas, and creative processes in a relaxed and supportive environment. Alongside the art activities, we’ll also include games, short mindfulness moments, and plenty of time to connect and have fun together.

Day 1: July 8th

Paint and play

Get ready for a day full of colour, experimentation and BIG creative energy.

Paint & Play is all about exploring different ways to paint and discovering that there’s no single “right” way to create. Across the day, children will work through a mix of guided and open-ended painting experiences designed to encourage confidence, creativity and artistic exploration.

Activities may include:
• Large-scale collaborative painting to warm up and get ideas flowing
• Creating a canvas artwork inspired by favourite themes, colours or artists
• Experimenting with unusual painting tools and techniques, including texture tools, scraping, stamping, layering and mark making
• Mixing colours and creating effects using different materials and surfaces
• Optional mini challenges and creative prompts for children who love stretching their ideas

Children will have opportunities to work independently, make creative choices and develop their own style while still receiving support and guidance throughout the day.

We’ll also break things up with games, movement and moments to reset and recharge.

Perfect for kids who love colour, creating and leaving with artwork they’re excited to show off.

Children will create at least 3 artworks and participate in additional creative activities throughout the day.

Day 2: July 9th

Textiles and Making

Slow down, create with your hands and discover the world of textiles.

This day invites children to explore art in a completely different way through weaving, fabric, texture and construction. Using a range of materials and techniques, participants will experiment with colour, pattern and design while creating tactile, layered artworks.

Activities may include:
• Embroidery hoop weaving using yarn, ribbons and mixed fibres
• Fabric collage and layered textile artwork
• Simple stitching and thread-based making (no experience needed)
• Creating wrapped forms, hanging decorations or decorative textile pieces
• Designing and embellishing personalised creations using beads, trims and texture

Children will be encouraged to experiment, problem solve and follow their own ideas while developing patience and confidence through making.

This day is perfect for children who enjoy details, designing, creating thoughtfully and trying something completely different.

Children will complete multiple textile-based projects and take home finished pieces at the end of the day.

Day 3: July 10th

Maker Space

Invent. Build. Experiment. Create.

Maker Space is designed for curious minds and kids with BIG ideas.

Using cardboard, recycled materials and open-ended creative challenges, children will imagine, construct and bring their ideas to life through a range of hands-on making experiences.

Activities may include:
• Cardboard construction challenges
• Designing and building tiny worlds, shops, houses or habitats
• Creating creatures, characters or sculptures from mixed materials
• Inventing machines, gadgets or imaginative objects
• Collaborative building challenges and creative problem-solving tasks
• Decorating and refining creations with paint, texture and details

Children are encouraged to think like artists, inventors and designers — testing ideas, changing plans and discovering what happens when creativity leads the way.

Expect building, creating, collaborating and lots of opportunities for individuality and imaginative play.

Children will complete multiple projects and leave with creations that are uniquely their own.
