Children

& Teens

Create to Connect art groups are about more than learning how to make art.

They’re small, relaxed groups where children and teens can create, experiment and spend time with other young people without the pressure to make something a particular way. There’s no need to be “good at art” and no expectation that everyone will work on the same thing or produce the same result.

We explore lots of different materials and processes — painting, drawing, clay, textiles, collage, sculpture, mixed media and whatever else we feel like trying.

Sessions are structured enough to feel safe and predictable, but flexible enough for kids to follow their own ideas. We usually begin with a short settling-in activity before moving into our art-making, with plenty of room for chatting, experimenting, changing direction or simply working quietly alongside other people.

Some kids come because they love art. Some come because they’re looking for somewhere they feel comfortable socially. Lots come for both.

Groups are intentionally small and welcoming, and particularly suit kids and teens who prefer a quieter, lower-pressure environment.

You can’t get art wrong.

“My son hadn't quite found his ‘place’ until he walked up the stairs at Create to Connect. He has found connection with peers and a passion for his art. He's always excited to go to his art group and as a parent it gives me great comfort to see him thriving socially and creatively with all his new friends.”

Term 4 begins Monday 12 October

8 sessions

$220

All materials included

A relaxed weekly art group for kids aged 6–10 who love making things.

Each week we explore different materials and ideas through painting, drawing, clay, collage, textiles, sculpture and mixed media. Activities are open-ended, so there’s plenty of room for children to experiment, make their own choices and take their artwork in completely different directions.

The focus isn’t on everyone producing the same finished piece. It’s about enjoying the process, building confidence and getting to know other kids while we create together.

No art experience needed.

Mondays 6:30–7:30pm

Term 4 begins Monday 12 October

8 sessions

$220

All materials included

A creative space for 10–14 year olds to make art, try new things and connect with other young people.

We work across lots of different materials and processes including drawing, painting, clay, textiles, sculpture and mixed media. There’s guidance and inspiration when it’s wanted, but also plenty of freedom to develop your own ideas and make something completely your own.

This is a small, low-pressure group where you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room, already know someone, or think of yourself as “good at art” to belong.

Come as you are, make some stuff and see where it goes.

Young Creators

Wednesdays 5:30–6:30pm

Term 4 begins Wednesday 14 October

9 sessions

$220

All materials included

Young Creators is our Wednesday group for primary-school-aged kids who love to create.

We explore a different mix of materials, techniques and ideas throughout the term — from painting and drawing to clay, construction, textiles, collage and mixed media.

There’s always something to get started with, but no pressure for everyone to make the same thing. Kids are encouraged to experiment, follow their own ideas and work at their own pace.

It’s a friendly, relaxed hour in the middle of the week to make art, chat and spend time with other creative kids.

No experience needed and all materials are provided.

Book Term 4 – $220

14–18 Year Old Art Group

Wednesdays 7–8:30pm

Term 4 begins Wednesday 14 October

9 sessions

$250

All materials included

A relaxed weekly studio group for teenagers who want somewhere to create and connect.

We explore drawing, painting, clay, textiles, mixed media, sculpture and other processes throughout the term, with projects designed to give everyone a starting point without dictating what the finished artwork should look like.

There’s room to experiment, work independently, talk, listen, change your mind, make something weird, or just quietly get absorbed in what you’re doing.

It’s deliberately low pressure. You don’t need any art experience and you don’t have to be confident walking into a group. The idea is simply to have a place where you can make art alongside other teenagers and gradually get to know the people around you.

Wednesdays are 90 minutes, giving us a little more time to settle in and get properly stuck into what we're making.
